10 years from now, I can imagine the classroom being extremely technological, I mean we think it already is, but I imagine more. I feel like we will have interactive 3-D homework assignments. Virtual classrooms will be more common. I also feel like there will be technological class subjects. We have come along way with technology and it will continue to be a growing product. We already have machines that grade for us and have some smart technology, I feel like it will become more common. Right now some have a choice whether to utilize technology in the classroom, in the future it will be less of a choice and easier to operate.
The teachers I have observed use a few different ways to communicate. These different ways are e-mail, letters, text messages, bulletin boards, and Facebook. I plan to use most of these ways. The teacher I observe now made a Facebook page just for her preschool class and she updates it with field trips and activities they have done. I feel like this is a great way to communicate because Facebook is so popular. I will attempt to use all of the ideas, but if I cannot, I will for sure use letters, e-mails, and Facebook.
Grade Book Pros and Cons: Pros: -easy to work -quicker, because you have functions to average -parents can access it at any time Cons: -replacing traditional grade books -computers can crash -if its a stormy day, it may run slower -parent may not have access to technology Devices (or Apps)
(these are devices/apps that the students can utilize) -3D (Augmented Reality) -Spacecraft 3D -Garage band -Google Slides -Padlet (can be used as a study guide) -Google Communities (can be used to communicate and work on projects with others) Programs (these are programs that can be used by teachers) -Prezi (can be used like a presentation) -Padlet (can be used to help students study) -Google Communities -Weebly While in high school one of my teachers told me that it was okay to use a paragraph word for word. Then in college, I did the same thing and the professor told me that it was considered plagiarism/copyright. Since I learned this in school I thought it was okay, and when I got to college, I got an "F" on the assignment and almost got kicked out of school. I feel that our schools should teach us more on plagiarism and copyright. In vo-tech, I also learned that doing lesson plans, I could copy the lesson word for word as long as I put the link to the activity, to give credit to the original owner.
Cursive writing is sometimes difficult to teach. Yes, technology is taking over, but if something bad were to ever happen, and we loose electricity, all we have is handwritten documetns and cursive. I believe cursive can be a pain, but it is also a very beautiful way of writing, and most important items require a signature, which is in cursive. In all honesty, I don't think we should do away with cursive at all. We should teach typing as well as cursive because typing is so popular, and a lot of people do rely on it and cursive is really important.
Video games can be super helpful. In my opinion the games should be provided by school, not brought from home, That way we can watch what's educational and what is not. Games can teach a child how to follow instructions. Also, they can be educational, they are not always violent and gore. I feel like games would keep some children's interest, and it's something different than your basic homework and reading.
Educational technology is a combination of the processes and tools involved in addressing educational needs and problems with an emphasis on applying the most current digital and information tools. No matter how advanced technology gets, teachers will always be an important part of education. Technology uses several different systems and applications that help enhance student learning outcome. In my opinion one of the biggest issues in technology is the digital divide. Not every family can afford computers and teachers have to spend more time with that child teaching them how to work it instead of teaching the lesson. Learning technology skills in today's world is important for children because computer application skills are used at most every job now days. Also, technology is advancing every year and it will continue to advance, that's why it is important for teachers and students to as up to date as possible with technology.
There are three factors that help ensure technology integration.
1. Learning Theory Foundations 2. Integration Planning Model 3. Essential Conditions for Integration There are two types of integration models, these are directed and constructivist models. Directed model strategies include identified weaknesses or skilled deficits, promotes skill fluency or automaticity, support efficient, self-paced learning and a few others. Constructivist strategies include creative problem solving and metacognition, helps build mental models, and increased knowledge transfer and few others. The (TIP) model is used to help teachers prepare for technology use in the classroom. Certain conditions must be met for technology to have an impact on teaching and learning. |
